FAQs

  • We believe in-home rather than office-based services, are the best way to build rapport because we are in a child’s natural environment. They often feel most safe at home as this space is not clinical or medical in any way.

  • EmpoweringKidz is happy to provide a Superbill, which is a detailed invoice verifying paid services. You can submit the Superbill to your insurance provider to receive reimbursement for services. We cannot 100% guarantee reimbursement.

Individuals enrolled in a Health Savings Account (HSA) qualified plan have the ability to use their funds towards Child Life services.

  • The amount of sessions your child will need depends on what we are working on. For example, if your child is learning how to swallow pills for the first time, we might only require three to four 60 minute sessions. On the other hand, if your child would benefit from long term support as they navigate a serious chronic illness, we could be meeting every few weeks.

Ultimately, we decide the amount of sessions as a team based on your child’s individual needs. You can stop and restart services at any time.

  • A typical first session consists of a detailed assessment. Your Child Life Specialist will ask you questions about your child’s learning style, development, current medical stressors, previous medical history and goals for the sessions.

After the first session, your Child Life Specialist will be working primarily with your child or teen. They may bring books, art materials, medical supplies, or other play materials to teach or explore topics with your child. At the end of each session, we will recap with caregivers about the session and our goals for the next meeting.

  • EmpoweringKidz is dedicated to offering excellent family-centered care and helping any family member that may have coping needs. Sibling sessions are welcomed but need to be coordinated ahead of time.

  • A 60 minute session begins at $150 an hour. Contact us to learn about long term support packages.
